She watched the snow fall outside her bedroom window. She shivered from the cold and remembered winters from her childhood. One in particular stirred a favorite memory. She would never forget the time that . . .

we lived on Dodge St. growing up. The community playground was right behind our house. It seemed as if it was our back yard – there were no boundaries. Every winter they would flood the park and make an ice skating rink. We had soooo much fun there! Everyone in my family would ice skate there. There were eight of us kids! I never saw my Mom skate, I think she was just too busy tending to all our needs. She was like that! But our step-dad use to skate with us – he was a damn good skater. He could do figure 8’s and everything! He taught us all we knew about skating. After our feet were freezing we would go in the house for hot cocoa. It wasn’t instant either! Awww! The good old days!
